The French Province celebrated its 18th Provincial Chapter, April 17-21, in Blaru, north of Paris. The chapter had 17 members of whom two were from the Region of French Polynesia. Javier Álvarez Ossorio sscc, Superior General was present. Marie Agnes Roussiale of the Secular Branch helped with the minutes. In addition, Pacale Lesourd the assistant to the Provincial Econome was present for the session on finances. Nicolas Capelle, a De La Salle brother was the moderator of the Chapter.
The principal themes treated were the following: Youth and vocation ministry; initial formation; laity and SSCC ministry; the elderly; the future of the presence in Picpus: the situation in the Region of French Polynesia; and the model of governance that the Province needs at this point in its history.
The Chapter elected Christian Flottes as the new Provincial. He replaces Christian Malrieu who was Provincial for six years. He will take up the reins of office June 29, 2017. The Chapter also elected two Provincial Councilors: Bernard Couronne and Alphonse Fraboulet. Another two will be elected by the whole Province in the coming weeks.
