As part of the Canonical Visit Jean Blaise Mwanda and Derek Laverty visited Catuji, in the Province of Minais Gerais. The Congregation has been present in this town since 2011. Serving in this rural parish community are João Lucas Alves, Élcio Rubens Felix and Francisco Gleison Oliveira. This parish consists of 45 communities, the most remote being 90 minutes away. The visit was very well prepared and included visits to two of the rural communities where mass was celebrated. These rural communities brought back memories of our time in Mozambique.
On the final day of the visit Sunday mass was celebrated in the parish church (St. Michael the Archangel). This was followed by a meeting with pastoral leaders (catechism, liturgy, prayer, etc) and concluded with a meal in the parish centre. The visit was also an opportunity to have a conversation with each brother and later a meeting with the community.
