Meeting of the Secular Branch of Brazil

Continuing with the formation process in the SSCC vocation and mission, the laity of the Secular Branch of Brazil met in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) from July 19th to 21st, for their annual national meeting.

Representatives of the communities of Belo Horizonte, Patrocinio, Rio de Janeiro (Tijuca and Campo Grande) and Pindamonhangaba were present. Sister Rosa Elena Barros sscc, coordinator of the SSCC sisters of Latin America and Ecuador, also attended.

The first topic discussed was the family, which was approached in the light of Amoris Laetitia of Pope Francis. The group looked back at different aspects of the family and showed the various family models to the present day. The meeting concluded that our vocation and mission must be at the service of love, at the service of the family, accompanying, discerning and integrating weaknesses.

The other theme was based on the document Laudato Si, also by Pope Francis, which deals with the care we should have for our common home.

In addition to the above topics, the guidelines of the SSCC Secular Branch were defined, as well as the questionnaire of the formation group for the revision of the Sector Regulations, and defining the  steps to follow until the next national or  international meetings take place.

The meeting was considered very worthwhile and productive. The participants returned to their homes renewed, with the responsibility of being agents of communion, and making the Kingdom of God present in their communities.
