On August 4th in the parish of San Isidro Labrador (Mexico City), at a mass presided by the Mexican Provincial, Pedro Díaz sscc, accompanied by brothers and sisters of the Province, Nurmy García Martínez sscc and Enrique Ramírez Capetillo sscc, on the occasion of their 25th ° anniversary of religious profession, renewed their commitment to consecration taken before God and the Church in Chalco, Mexico, in 1995.
Nurmy and Enrique offered the Eucharist for the deceased SSCC members of the Province who – they said - had shown them Christ and who helped them pour out their lives by their testimony of committed life, with gestures of closeness, simplicity and openness in fraternal sharing.
In his homily, Pedro Díaz sscc, Provincial Superior, encouraged them to let themselves continue to be accompanied and to maintain the attitudes of seeking, of being available and of listening, typical of the disciple (Sam 3, 1-10) who “dress in tender mercy, goodness, humility, sweetness, and understanding ”(Col 3, 12-17). He also asked them to make an effort to put the "only One who is Good " at the centre of their lives, to "sell what they have and give it to the poor" and to keep asking each other every day "what else is necessary, Lord?" (Mt 19, 16-26).
Nurmy and Enrique thanked God for the gifts he has given them and also thanked the SSCC brothers and sisters for the joy and fraternal love that they have shared with them. The assembly prayed that the celebration would be an inexhaustible source of peace and perseverance for them all, and that they recognize in their lives the presence of the Spirit that transforms and animates. They prayed that in this mission which the Good Father and Good Mother began, and that never discouraged them, would also motivate their capacity for self-giving and service, following the example of our Brothers St Damien of Molokai, Blessed Eustaquio, the Spanish Martyrs and the Servant of God, Esteban Gumucio sscc.
At the end of the Eucharist, the brothers and sisters continued the celebration by sharing food together.
