Advent day of recollection (Poland)

On Friday, December 12, our community in the Klodzko Valley held an Advent Day of Recollection. We were honored to have Father Fabian Kaldbach OFM, the parish priest and guardian from Klodzko, lead us throughout the day. We began at 9:00 AM with Mass and a homily. In his sermon, Father Fabian spoke about John the Baptist as a prophet who boldly proclaimed God’s will yet never claimed to be the Messiah. He reminded us that in all our preaching we are called to announce Christ, not ourselves. He also reflected on the Gospel reading, urging us not to be like children who are never satisfied, but instead to find joy in accepting God’s will.

After Mass, we shared coffee and cake, and at 10:30 AM we had a conference focused on the life of a religious community. Father Fabian presented insights from a study involving more than 270 religious men and women, emphasizing that love of God and neighbor is the foundation of community life. He highlighted the importance of praying together, sharing meals, and spending leisure time with one another as signs of a healthy and vibrant community.

The day concluded with a time of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, along with the opportunity for confession. After the final blessing, we ended with a communal lunch, grateful for this Advent moment of spiritual renewal.
