The Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary joyfully celebrates the priestly ordination of Fr. Alphi Marvick Ilustrisimo Damaso sscc, held on Tuesday, July 14, at the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, in Mangato, Laoag City (Philippines).
The ordination was presided over by Most Rev. Renato P. Mayugba, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Laoag, who conferred the gift of the priesthood on the new presbyter through the laying on of hands and the Prayer of Ordination.
The parish community, together with Fr. Alphi Marvick's family, united in prayer to give thanks for the gift of his vocation and to accompany the beginning of his priestly ministry. In its message on the occasion of the ordination, the parish expressed the wish that the Holy Spirit strengthen him "with wisdom, humility, and steadfast love," so that his life may always reflect the heart of the Good Shepherd and inspire many to follow Christ.
The motto accompanying the celebration, taken from John 15:9 — "Remain in my love" — sums up the spirit in which the new priest begins his mission: a life given to the service of Christ and the Church, under the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
"You are a priest forever" (Ps 110:4), recalls the psalm that inspires this celebration, in which the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts renews its gratitude to God for every new vocation that joins its religious family.
With this ordination, Fr. Alphi Marvick Ilustrisimo Damaso sscc, begins his ministry as a priest, called to proclaim the Gospel and serve God's people.
