Both the annual meeting (the Community Days) was celebrated and the retreat to the Polish Province of the Congregation took place from July 31 to August 5, 2016 at the Mother House - CHRISTUS REX in Polanica-Zdroj. Usually, this meeting is held at the end of July, but this year it took place during those days which we lived through, or participated in, World Youth Day with Pope Francis.
Monday, August 1, we had a meeting about our business as a province, and in the afternoon we made a short pilgrimage to the shrine of The Sorrowful Mary in Stary Wielislaw (distance about 6 km), where our Congregation is also present. Underneath, close to the tombs of our deceased brothers, we celebrated the Eucharist. This celebration was linked with blessing of the new tombs that are prepared for all the deceased brothers.
Tuesday, August 2, we had a conference with a Franciscan priest on liturgy. It was obviously a rewarding experience because there was a lot of questions and much discussion following his input.
Tuesday night, we started with our spiritual exercises which were directed by Adam Adamski, Oratory of St. Philip Neri at Poznan. In his truly engaging conferences, shared with faith and conviction, he relied on the ideas and the life of Blessed Henry Cardinal Newman, who converted to Catholicism to enter the Oratory. As we do each year during the retreat, we have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
