Assembly of Brothers and Sisters of the African Province, Zone of Mozambique (Brs & Srs)

The SSCC brothers, sisters and Laity of the zone of Mozambique had their annual Assembly from January 3 to 7, 2017 in Boane. The central theme of the assembly was SSCC Leadership. Fr. Willy Mpia sscc helped us to reflect and deepen the theme, using the documents of the Congregation. Willy introduced the different types of leadership, as well as different models of organization.

On the January 6, the brothers, sisters and laity worked separately to respond to the questions, to evaluate the year and to propose the themes for On-going Formation of each branch. The brothers spoke of the Bull Pastor Aeternus, the sixth Provincial Chapter and all brothers discussed about Youth Ministry and Vocations, candidature, the Commissions on Parishes, Annual Retreat of the priests (On- going Formation), and finally the evaluation of the current assembly and the choosing of the theme for the next assembly.

On January 7, the day began with the celebration of the word presided by the Provincial Superior, Fr. Jean-Bosco ELUMBA sscc on the occasion of the official entrance into novitiate of Dança RODA, Emmanuel TSUMBU and Isaac TSASA.

Right after the entrance ceremony all came together in one of the novitiate rooms to share what each had shared and discussed. After the expositions of the brothers, sisters, laity, it was time to discuss the theme, animator and date of the next assembly and the program which the General Government had sent on the Two Centuries of the Bull.

The Assembly was closed a celebration of Temporary Profession of the three novices : Antonio FAKA, Joachim KUPE, Christian N'KUMBI at the Blessed Clementina Anuarite of Boane. The mass was presided by the Provincial Superior, Jean Bosco ELUMBA sscc. In his homily he exhorted the novices on the example of the King magi, who followed the star that led them to the infant Jesus laid in the manger, the light who is Christ himself. As religious, we are invited in our time to become stars that lead others to Christ.

From the table of the Mass, we turned to the table of wine where we shared meals together with brothers, sisters, laity and distinguished guests in the multipurpose room of SSCC sisters in Boane. All went off in a favorable climate, without sun and without heavy rain but “Tokoss”, in the Kinois language.
