From November 14 to 20 all the formators in Latin America gathered together in Chaclacayo, Lima (Peru) for their assembly. The first two days were allocated to sharing information on the formation stages, starting with the Postulancy: Mexico, Ecuador (“Andina” province), Brazil, Paraguay and Chile; followed by Novitiate International: Peru, then the International Professed stage: Chile and finally, the “fourth stage”. It is interesting to have the whole picture of the formation houses in Latin America and to pull together some common elements for consideration.
The third and fourth days were devoted for formation of the formators with the themes of Adoration and TICs (Technology of Information and Communication). The book on Reparation written by Alberto Toutin was very helpful to review our respective experience of initiation into Adoration, helps us with the renewal of our ministry of Adoration as well as suggesting ways to initiate the brothers in Initial Formation into this Reparative Adoration. The following days was enriched by the input of Sr Katty Huanuco about the reality of Technology in the young generation who come to us.
In addition, we visited the novitiate on Wednesday and celebrated Eucharist with our three novices. The final two days were allocated to data: the protocol for passing information from one stage of formation to another, for receiving information from the General Commission of Initial Formation and for documenting what we have shared and discussed during these days.
To conclude the meeting, we made a visit to the sscc community in Montenegro (San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima).
