Beginning of the postulancy (Brazil)

On 12 February, in the city of Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo, the Province of Brazil celebrated the opening of the postulancy, marking the beginning of the process of formation of four young men in the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts.

The Mass presided over by the Provincial Superior of Brazil, Osvânio Humberto Mariano, sscc, was the moment when he, on behalf of the brothers, gave a warm welcome to each of the young men.

The new postulants are: Igor Dantas (Campo Grande, RJ), João Marcos (Antônio Martins, RN), Lucas Soares (Paracatu, MG) and Wesley Paulo (Capelinha, MG). The Provincial Superior was accompanied by the formators: Edvaldo Carneiro sscc and Ricardo Gomes sscc. The celebration was also attended by Edmar Aparecido de Oliveira sscc, Alexandre Campos Leite sscc and Vitor Henrique Borges sscc, reinforcing the unity, commitment and support of the religious community during the formation period.

The name chosen for the Postulancy was "Dom Luiz Mancilha Vilela sscc" a tribute to one of illustrious sons of the Sacred Hearts who, as a priest in the 1970s, was a formator in the community and contributed significantly to the formation of the postulants of the Congregation in the city of Pindamonhangaba. Dom Luiz was also Archbishop of Vitória between 2002 and 2018. His death in 2022 not only reinforces the importance of this tribute, but also highlights the grateful memory of Dom Luiz's pastoral work. In this sense, the event, marked by moments of reflection, prayer, joy and fraternity, also represents an important milestone in the history of the Province of Brazil, which returns to Pindamonhangaba, reaffirming its commitment and significant presence in the region.
