Between hammer and brush, Damien in the Eyes of Artists (Brs)

This past April 26, 2015, the Day of Flemish Patrimony was celebrated. Attention was focused on the historical treasures of this part of Belgium. As you would expect, Father Damien could be missed.

Under the title of “Between Hammer and Brush, Damien in the Eyes of Artists” a selection of drawings, paintings, and sculptures was presented at Damien Center, Louvain.

The director of “Damien Today” and his coworkers offer  visitors an exposition of how different artists have been inspired by the figure of Damien and how he has been presented on canvas, on paper, modelled in their hands, carved in wood.

The exposition has less than 25 pieces thus leaving room so that visitors through the web site www.erfgoedplus.be to choose among those still in storage what they would like to see in the showroom.*

More than 800 visitors have enjoyed the exposition guided by a leaflet prepared for the occasion. The exposition will last through the end of June.

* We invite all brothers and sisters to let us know and to send us any work of art that is interesting to be displayed in the hall of the Damien Center.
