Our arrival in Fairhaven involved some contrasts: we left behind us in Texas temperatures of 105F and found awaiting us temperatures of 77F in Fairhaven, MA. We said goodbye to a community of five in Texas with an average age of 50 and hello to a community of 11 members with an average age of 75. The brothers first established themselves in Fairhaven in 1905 and later in Texas in 1967. This weekend we have been able to join the brothers in some of their community masses and parish masses. The parish of St Joseph is celebrating a Novena to Mary, Queen of Peace and Derek was invited to speak at the Sunday morning masses about different understandings of Mary.
The 4th July is coming up with the result that the weekend for many people is becoming a long weekend.
Our 1-2-1meetings with the brothers begins tomorrow.
