“Cantata” of Human Rights will be staged in the Cathedral of Santiago-Chile (Brs)

Sponsored by the General Vicariate of  Pastoral in the Archdiocese of Santiago, The Sacred Hearts Congregation and the Vicariate for Pastoral of Social and the Workers  will present the “Cantata” Cain and Abel on Monday, November 25th, at 19:30 for Human Rights, exactly 35 years after its premiere.

This activity intends to mark the opening of the Centenary Celebrations of the birth of the Servant of God Esteban Gumucio Vives, ss.cc., the playwright of this work. In Rome, the cause of Fr. Esteban’s beatification is currently in process.

In turn, this event aims to remember the tireless work of the Catholic Church that began just days after the 1973 military coup, when the human rights [in Chile] began to be violated.

In this occasion the cantata will be interpreted by the group Inti Illimani, the choir Orfeón de Santiago, directed by Victor Alarcon, University Orchestra directed by Alejandro Guarello (composer of the work) and the narration will be done by the renowned actor José Secall.
