CAP–USA–PUA Superiors' Meeting in Manila

From February 3 to 6, 2026, the superiors of the sisters and brothers of the Asia, USA, and PUA Conference gathered for their meeting at the Damian Formation Center in Manila. Bertrand Cherrier, Provincial of France, was also invited to participate, as he was on his way to Indonesia after visiting French Polynesia.

The meeting began with a time of spiritual animation led by the Superior General, Alberto Toutin, based on Pope Leo XIV’s document Dilexit Te. Guided by two questions—“Where do I encounter the Lord of history who speaks to me in the poor?” and “How am I evangelized by the poor?”—participants engaged in a deep conversation in the Spirit.

This spiritual reflection was enriched by an intervention from Bertrand Cherrier, who shared the experience of the Province of France, particularly the mission in Poitiers and the efforts to make the most of the spiritual heritage in La Motte and Coussay-les-Bois. These contributions provided a strong foundation for the rest of the meeting.

Following these spiritual inputs, the agenda continued with reports from each community, highlighting significant events from 2025 and activities related to youth ministry. A report on initial formation, as well as plans to welcome brothers from the USA Province to continue their theological studies in Manila, further strengthened the sense of interdependence at the conference level.

One of the most meaningful moments of the meeting was the visit to our mission in Bagong Silang. There, participants were able to see firsthand how our sisters, brothers, and volunteers carry out the mission among the poor. During the visit, we met elderly residents at the Aymer Center and witnessed how our sisters minister to children and children with special needs at the Damian Center. We were especially grateful for the sharing of the volunteers, who have committed their lives to sustaining the mission from its beginnings until today.

The meeting then resumed with other important agenda items, including financial matters and the presentation of a new draft of statutes. These statutes articulate our nature and purpose, reflect on what we have accomplished over the past three years, and outline our vision for the future.

At the conclusion of the meeting, all the superiors expressed their gratitude for this meaningful gathering and shared their hope for the plans to be implemented in the coming year. The meeting ended with the celebration of the Eucharist, attended by sisters, brothers, members of the secular branch, and benefactors, as we shared our joy together as the Sacred Hearts Family.
