The centenary of the SS.CC. Parish, Recoleta, was celebrated in the heart of the city of Lima on Sunday, 18th August. The day began with various artistic presentations put on by the children, youth and adults of the pastoral groups, all of which evidenced the cultural richness of the country. Mons. Carlos Castillo (archbishop of Lima) presided at the Eucharist, in which Brian Cruz sscc was confirmed in the service of pastor. The Archbishop referred to the work of evangelisation undertaken by the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in downtown Lima, noting that the brothers always knew how to promote pastoral initiatives in favour of the city's neighbourhoods and youth. Towards the end, Raúl Pariamachi (Provincial) gratefully remembered the fourteen priests who had been pastors and rectors of the Church during these one hundred years, as well as recognising the brothers who were present. The celebrations concluded with a dinner for all those who attended, united under the centenary motto: "One Hundred Years Walking with Jesus and Mary."
