On Sunday the 10th of May, the Feast of Saint Damien, the two Generalate communities came together at Via Rivarone 85 for a family time. As usual, the celebration began with the Eucharist, with David Reid, our new Postulator General, as the main celebrant, who delivered his homily without text in quite fluent Italian.
Also present was David de la Torre who came to Rome for a special course in connection with his recent appointment as the official spokesperson of the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference for the up-coming visit of Pope Francis to the country.
The family time will not be complete without having a meal together. The delicious main dish was prepared by Alberto Toutin with the help of some brothers. It ends with an apple tart dessert, a specialty of Victor Gualan. A young refugee from Afghanistan who is staying with us until June, Ahmed Han (25), joined our family meal.
Immediately after lunch, the brothers General Government left for their annual Retreat in the beautiful hill town of Orvieto, a 90 minute drive north of Rome.
