A moving tribute took place on Monday, May 26, at the Chapel of Picpus (Paris) in honor of the Blessed Martyrs Ladislas, Polycarp, Frézal, and Marcellin—religious priests of the Sacred Hearts who gave their lives for the faith in 1871. Through a series of images, the community remembered with gratitude and hope the testimony of these men, whose radical offering continues to inspire many today.
To celebrate the martyrs is to celebrate the Life of Christ, manifested in those who are united to Him to the point of offering their lives out of love and fidelity to Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. The eucharist was presided over by Fr. Christian Flottes, sscc, vice-postulator of the cause for canonization of the blesseds. In his homily, he emphasized how the Heart and Life of Christ deeply transformed the lives of these four religious men, enabling them to offer their lives in the midst of trials and hatred.
Today, the Blessed Martyrs intercede for us before the Lord. Their relics can be venerated daily at the Chapel of Picpus. All are welcome!
