The Commission for Economic Solidarity (CES) is currently meeting in Rome, at the Sisters’ Generalate. The members of the commission are Romeka Situmorang (Indonesia), Bertha Córdoba (Colombia), Mary Mc Closkey (Ireland), Jolie Kwengani (RD Congo), Evelyne Royer, the General Treasurer (France), and Susana Villarreal, who represents the General Government. Our work began with a time of prayer, which helped us to approach the task entrusted to us with an open mind and a sense of responsibility, aware of the challenges involved in managing the Congregation’s assets in the light of Gospel values in today’s world.
After setting our agenda, we began reviewing the accounts of the countries and works of the Congregation. Our knowledge of the communities, situations and apostolates in the various countries where the Congregation is present enables us to work both effectively and with understanding. We also hope to support and encourage the sisters entrusted with the important responsibility of managing the Congregation’s assets within their local contexts. We will take some time to visit Pope Francis’s tomb at the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore and, of course, to pop into our local pizzeria, Goose. It is a pleasure to reconnect as a commission.
