On Monday, 4 September, the liturgy (Eucharist and adoration) of the Extended General Council and Council of the Congregation was led by the brothers from Indonesia, Japan-Philippines, and the sisters from the Pacific/USA and Asia.
The Superior General, Alberto Toutin, welcomed the participants and invited them to listen to what the Spirit is saying and to be surprised by what God is communicating to us during these days.
In the morning, moderated by Jean Blaise Mwanda, each major superior gave a presentation on the missionary challenges facing his community, highlighting one or two missionary renewal initiatives.
In the afternoon, we entered into a process of discernment. Alberto spoke to us about mission as going out of oneself and as an encounter with the text of Acts 10, 1-48 (Peter and Cornelius).
Afterwards, Fernando Cordero indicated some aspects of the spiritual conversation that will then be practised in groups with a final sharing.
