More very good news came on 11 May from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. The Theological Consultors met on this day and gave their opinion on the martyrdom of our Picpus confreres shot during the Paris Commune of 1871. Their cause was presented in the "Positio super martyrio". The voices of all the Consultors were "affirmative", which is decisive for the final stage of the beatification process. Now the "Positio" together with the "Relatio et Vota" of Theological Consultors will be examined by the Cardinals and Bishops - Members of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints gathered for the so-called Ordinary Session. It should take place in the coming months.
Each Member will be called to express his opinion on the matter and therefore enjoys maximum freedom of conscience as an advisor to the Pope in the causes of the Saints. If the opinion of the Members of the Congregation is also positive the cause will be handed over to the Holy Father for final resolution.
Let us thank God for this joyful decision of the Theological Consultors, that has come to us as a "gift" for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the execution of our Servants of God and let us pray that the final decisions will lead us to complete joy in the form of the imminent beatification of the "Martyrs of Picpus".
