On June 5, the members of the Commission for Spiritual and Historical Heritage gathered at the General House on Via Rivarone.

Present in person were Noemí García, Jean Blaise Mwanda, Andrzej Lukawski, Éric Hernout, and Fernando Cordero. Online: Mª Beatriz Montaner and Mercedes Bayo.

We highlight some information from the topics discussed:

  • Work is underway on the possibility of transferring the remains of the Founders to the Picpus Chapel.
  • On May 21, the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints announced that the Ordinary Session of the Cardinals and Bishops, members of the Dicastery, at which the heroicity of the virtues of Father Esteban Gumucio will be debated, will take place on October 6.
  • The General Historical Commission has been established for the preliminary phase of the beatification process of Father Mateo Crawley-Boevey.
  • Publication of issue No. 12 of Études Picpuciennes: "The Heart that Transforms Homes. International Colloquium on the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Father Mateo Crawley-Boevey sscc."
  • In the general archive of the brothers, a new lay archivist, Arianna Penna, has begun working.
  • In-person gathering with SSCC theology students around the theme of Mary in Rome, from September 6 to 10.
  • Programming of the Poitiers Session next July. Work has been carried out in teams, coordinating with the SSCC brothers and sisters of France and Belgium. We will celebrate the bicentenary sending of the first SSCC missionaries from Paris, with the presence of the Superiors General.
  • Work on the spirit of family in the Congregation and its application in the life of our communities today, with a new methodology in which all SSCC communities would be consulted.

We also conducted an evaluation for the better functioning of the Commission.

Next meeting of the Commission at the General House on Via Aurelia, November 13.
