From June 1st to 3rd, all SSCC communities in the Sumatra region — including Mentawai, Brayan Bengkel, Lau Baleng and Lawedesky — gathered for their regional meeting at St Damian Parish in Lau Baleng. The meeting was attended by Fr. Pankras Olak sscc Provincial Superior, who presented the outcomes of the recent provincial chapter to all the brothers. He also shared proposals and insights concerning the current situation of the local Church in Sumatra. These reflections aim to support the communities in their mission and pastoral work across the region.
Each community gave updates on their parish life and community experiences (PARL). As a result of the discussions, the region collectively committed to placing greater focus on youth ministry. The meeting concluded with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Pankras, offered especially for Fr. Niko Bot Syura sscc and Fr. Lukas Taruna Sitepu sscc, who have completed their service in Medan. The community joined in prayer for their new assignments. Fr. Paulus Halek Bere sscc regional coordinator for Sumatra expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the brothers and sisters who participated, dedicating their time and energy to this meaningful gathering.
