The first chapter of the new province of the United States is being held November 14-18 in our sisters' St. Anthony's retreat house in Kalihi, Hawaii.
On the evening of Sunday, the 13th, the Superior General presided at the Eucharist during which he read the decree erecting the Province. At that moment the two provinces of USA East and Hawaii ceased to exist and the new province began, fruit of the union of those two provinces.
There are twenty-five capitulants: 12 from each of the two former provinces and the Superior General. One of the capitulants is the Regional Superior of India, which now becomes a region dependent of the US Province.
Also participating in the Chapter are Peadar Cronin, Provincial of the USA West, Regina Mary Jenkins, Provincial of the sisters and Richardf McNally, Vicar General, who led the team that prepared the chapter.
