Between 9-11 November, the bishops of Ecuador held their plenary Assembly with the aim of electing a new Presidential Council and analyzing the situation in the country that has been hit hard by the coronavirus. On the 10th November, our brother David de la Torre sscc, auxiliary bishop of Quito, was elected secretary general and spokesman for the Ecuadorian episcopate.
The assembly had previously been postponed in April due to the health emergency, but for this occasion, all participants were able to be personally present having been COVID tested beforehand.
The bishops created spaces for prayer and reflection taking into account the new encyclical Fratelli Tutti.
