The General Government of the Brothers are heading to Assisi for a few days retreat (27th-30th November). Before leaving Rome, they met in the General House with David Glenday, who was the facilitator of the General Chapter that was held in September.
David gave us two talks. In the first, he recalled how the General Chapter has been a time of grace during which we lived a journey involving three movements: an interior movement (the inner ‘man’), a movement towards the essentials and a path towards simplicity.
In the second talk, David reflected on the exercise of authority as demonstrated by Jesus in Mt 20:17. Authority for Jesus is a gift from the Father present in the community. David highlighted three characteristics of authority: a place of communion; a place of transformation of fragility and authority; a place of openness to mission.
