On Monday, 26 January 2026, the Indonesia Province of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts (SSCC) joyfully celebrated the ordination of two of its members to the Diaconate: Ignatius Himawan Sulaksono, sscc, and Alphi Marvick Ilustrisimo Dammaso, sscc.
The ordination ceremony took place at the Chapel of St. Paul Major Seminary in Kentungan, Yogyakarta, and was presided over by Mgr. Robertus Rubiyatmoko, Pr, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Semarang. He was joined by concelebrants Fr. Alexius Dwi Aryanto, Pr, Rector of St. Paul Major Seminary, and Fr. Ignatius Triatmoko, MSF, Rector of the MSF Scholasticate, together with forty-five priests from various religious congregations.
Himawan and Marvick were ordained alongside thirteen other deacons from different dioceses and religious congregations, including the Archdiocese of Semarang, the Society of Jesus (SJ), the Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCD), and the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Holy Family (MSF).
In his homily, Archbishop Rubiyatmoko emphasized that the diaconal ministry is essentially a ministry of service. He reminded the newly ordained deacons that, through ordination, they have become members of the Church’s hierarchy and are therefore called to live their vocation with humility, responsibility, and fidelity in service to the People of God.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a fraternal gathering was held at the SSCC Scholasticate Community of Griya Tyas Dalem, Yogyakarta. This gathering also served as a thanksgiving celebration for the 25th anniversary of priestly ordination of Fr. Antun Wardoyo, sscc, and Fr. Ferry Indriatno sscc. The event featured fraternal sharing and cultural performances prepared by SSCC Youth Yogyakarta and SSCC scholastics.
During the gathering, the mission assignments of the newly ordained deacons were announced by Fr. Michiaki Chihara sscc, Regional Superior of the Japan Region. Deacon Himawan has been assigned to the Japan Region and will reside in the Tomobe community, where he will study the Japanese language and provide pastoral service in a parish on Sundays. Deacon Marvick has been assigned to return to Manila to continue his diaconal ministry.
