Diaconate Ordination of Nicolás Viel sscc in Argentina (Brs)

Nicolas Viel sscc was ordained deacon, Saturday afternoon, October29, in San José de Libertad parish, a neighborhood of the diocese Merlo-Moreno (Argentina), where the Congregation has served  since the end of 2010.

On Friday night, the community accompanied Nicolas in a beautifully sung prayer of adoration to prepare his  heart for ordination. A dozen brothers and sisters of the Congregation and much of the youth ministry were present for this moment of contemplation of the Blessed Sacrament.

The celebration of the ordination took place in front of the parish with the street closed off to greet people of the neighborhood. The entrance procession was led off by parishioners from each of the 18 chapels that are part of the parish of St. Joseph, and then people from the schools and other institutions.

The celebration was presided over by the bishop of the diocese, Fernando Maletti, and concelebrated by the future auxiliary bishop, and by the provincial of the Congregation, Alex Vigueras sscc, along with other sscc brothers and diocesan and religious priests close to  the parish.

A group that did not go unnoticed was the family of Nicolas, totaling 21 people. Some from the youth ministry presented Nicholas to the bishop, attesting to his condition for diaconal orders: "Nicholas has a restless spirit, mobilizing and motivating, and a faith in the young people, those who wait with open arms."

At these words the Bishop Maletti, who in a friendly and deep homily, said that Nicolas' dreams are serving and sharing, which should be very familiar to him, formed in a congregation like the Sacred Hearts.

In his final greeting, Nicholas began thanking God "for calling me; He knows what kind of clay I am." Then he thanked his family, the unconditional support of his father and his mother, "without whom none of this would be happening" (his mother died several years ago).At the end he asked a special favor of all his brothers and friends: "Remind us always, the priests, deacons, bishops and religious that our place is the service and our preference is the poor. The titles are contrary to the gospel. Pray for us."
