Eucharist in the Zairean Rite (D. R. Congo)

The Superior General of the Sacred Hearts, Fr. Alberto Toutin, together with Stephen Banjare, General Councillor, visited the parish of Mama wa Boboto in Kinshasa on Sunday, September 6, where they took part in the Sunday Eucharist celebrated according to the Zairean Rite.

They left for the parish at 6:19 a.m. The Mass, presided over by Fr. Alain Makanda and celebrated in Lingala, began at 6:30 a.m. with the entrance procession, before a church that was already completely full. The celebration, animated by a youth choir, was lived intensely by an assembly that prayed, sang, and danced, with the faithful of all ages taking part. Almost without noticing the passing of time, the Eucharist continued until 9:30 a.m., in what Alberto Toutin described as "a celebration for everyone" and "a privileged time for God."

After Mass, they went on to visit the congregation's house of candidates and postulants in Kinshasa, where they were able to meet Sisters Huguette, Cecilia, and Madeleine "Kabibi."
