This Sunday (16th December), the presence of the Congregation in Arnstein sadly comes to an end. Alberto Toutin, the Superior General will be with the brothers in Germany to mark this significant moment in the life of the Province.
We received this moving message from Germany:
In 1919, the first brother to arrive in Arnstein was Father Chrysostomus Lauenroth sscc. Full of enthusiasm, he later wrote in the Arnstein chronicles: (When seeing the monastery up high ... it was clear to me immediately ... that this venerable sanctuary in the mountain, could become the spiritual centre for the devotion to the Heart of Jesus, which we want to promote and spread through the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in families … all of this appeared in a great vision before my soul … ".
We, the brothers of the Sacred Hearts in Germany are grateful for this 99-year old history. We are grateful for all that we have received in Arnstein during this time from the people we have met in this place. We are grateful for the fact that we were able to offer the wonderful message of the Love of God embodied in the Heart of Jesus to the people in the Lahn valley and in the Land of Nassau, as well as to the numerous pilgrims and pilgrims, who through all these years, made their way to the open arms of the image of the Sacred Heart in Arnstein.
But we also know that there is a time to arrive, a time to start, a time to stay and a time to leave. Now the time to leave has arrived. Like Abraham of old, we accept this vocation and ask the Lord again to show us the way and the place where he wants us now. (Cf. Gen 15.5).
We are grateful and hopeful at the same time.
