Following in the footsteps of Fr. Mateo Crawley and Fr. Rolf Reichenbach in Indonesia

The Indonesia Province has chosen to dedicate the year 2026 to a profound pilgrimage toward holiness, inspired by the life and witness of Fr. Mateo Crawley and Fr. Rolf Reichenbach. As a first step on this spiritual journey, a meaningful Zoom meeting was held with the General Postulator, Andrzej Lukawski sscc.

This gathering was not limited to the brothers of the congregation, but was also open to sisters, the Secular Branch, and all those who had known Fr. Rolf Reichenbach personally or shared a close connection with him. In total, 68 Zoom connections joined the two-hour meeting, coming from Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Japan, Polynesia, France, and the United States.

The meeting was facilitated by the Provincial, with an opening prayer led by the Spirituality Commission and a closing prayer prepared by Fr. Rolf Reichenbach’s team. During the session, Fr. Andrzej addressed six key questions that had been submitted in advance, all related to the journey toward Fr. Rolf Reichenbach’s beatification.

Among the topics discussed were:

  • the current status of the canonization process following the 40th General Chapter,

  • the initial stages of the beatification process,

  • the collaboration between the diocese, the religious congregation, and the faithful,

  • the essential aspects for presenting the life, spirituality, and mission of Rolf Reichenbach,

  • the importance of prayers of intercession through Fr. Rolf Reichenbach,

  • and the proposal for an initial celebration on September 11, 2026, in Batam, with the participation of the Bishop of Pangkalpinang.

After one hour of presentation, a second hour was dedicated to open dialogue, questions, and clarifications, greatly enriching the encounter.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Fr. Andrzej for his availability and generosity, as well as to all the sisters, brothers, and laypeople who made this moment of communion, reflection, and shared hope possible.
