After the anti-democratic attacks in Brazil, the provincial superior, Father Osvânio Humberto Mariano, declared that "with the return of Lula as president of the Republic, the right wing, orchestrated by Bolsonarist fanaticism, does not accept defeat in the October elections".
Osvânio pointed out that "unfortunately we are living through a difficult moment in the national politics of our country. We have just had four years of a right-wing dictatorship, where all public policies in favour of the poorest and most vulnerable had been put aside".
But I believe," Osvânio continued, "that what has happened in Brasilia only highlights the desperation of the right wing while, at the same time, it increases the desire on the part of good people for a redemocratisation of the country. Those who took part in the attacks are being called terrorists".
