The Solemnity of Corpus Christi this year has a special meaning to the parishioners of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Singapore, as the parish founded in 1963 celebrated its Golden Jubilee.
His Grace William Goh, the new Archbishop of Singapore, was the main celebrant of the Eucharist that started at 5 pm, with 1 Jesuit and 7 SSCC priests concelebrating: Anthony Hutjes (parish priest), Gerardus Suyono, Johan Wongso, Sambodo Ujianto, Nugroho Krisusanto (Batam), Odo Tiggeloven (Nederland), Remi Liando (Rome) and Charles Sim,sj (Minnesota).
The preparation for this event started 1,5 years ago, and series of activities lined up in anticipation of the momentous day; Charismatic Renewal night (Fr. Pat Crowley-California), Cultural night, Bingo night, Movie night, Rosary night, All Night Adoration night, just to mention a few, rounded up with a Gala Dinner attended by Archbishop Emeritus Nicholas Chia, Mgr. Euguene Vaz and Mr. Johannes Jansing, Dutch Ambassador to Singapore and more than 500 BSC parishioners of all ages.
The Blessed parish that has always been vibrant is looking forward to the next 50 years full of joyful ministries to serve the world thirsting for sincere love, meaningful life and genuine truth.
