With great joy, the parishioners of St. Damian Parish in Lau Baleng celebrated a heartfelt thanksgiving Mass in honor of Fr. Benny Kosasih sscc, for his six years of service, and warmly welcomed Fr. Abel Blikon sscc, who will continue the pastoral mission in the parish. The celebration was attended by representatives from the three parishes served by the SSCC in the Archdiocese of Medan: St. Damian (Lau Baleng), St. Joseph (Lawedesky), and St. Paul (Brayan, Medan).
In a spirit of family and inculturation, the parish community welcomed Fr. Antok sscc, and Fr. Abel sscc, following Karo tribal customs, by bestowing on them symbolic surnames as a sign of respect and acceptance. Fr. Antok was given the surname Perangin-angin, and Fr. Abel received Kacaribu. Fr. Beny, who had previously received the surname Perangin-angin, was also welcomed by the Brayan Parish—predominantly from the Batak Toba tribe—with the honorary surname Sinaga.
On behalf of the Congregation, Fr. Paulus Halek sscc, regional coordinator of the SSCC in Sumatra, expressed deep gratitude for the missionary dedication of Fr. Beny and Fr. Abel. The event was also attended by Mr. Niksen Simanjuntak, chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council of Brayan Parish, who offered his support and prayers for the continued mission of the SSCC brothers and sisters in Sumatra.
