On 30 June, in the context of the feast of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, the sscc family celebrated a number of different events: the sscc sisters celebrate 50 years of presence in the R. D. of Congo. A thanksgiving Eucharist was celebrated in the parish of St. François-Xavier. It was presided over by the Bishop of Inongo, Donatien Bauidinsoni. A number of sscc brothers concelebrated along with some priest friends of the Congregation. In the ceremony Sarah Ngunda professed her perpetual vows and Catherine Makolo, Rachel Mwanakunda and Judith Yuku their temporary vows into the hands of the Superior General, Patricia Villarroel. Kalala Pater also made his temporary profession, into the hands of the Provincial Superior of Africa, Jean-Bosco Elumba. After the celebration the party continued at the Fr. Damien Centre where a multitude of familiar families and friends, along with the ss.cc. members gathered (brothers, sisters and lay). The Superior General invites us to follow the style of Mary: "May Mary, whose disciple’s Heart was always attentive to the voice of God, continue to be with us as a loving Mother and as our companion on the way".
