on the Good Mothers’s feast day
Dear Brothers, Sisters and members of the Secular Branch
Today we celebrate the Dies Natalis of our Foundress. Let us give thanks to the Lord for all that he has revealed in the life lived and decisions taken made by the Good Mother.
We think of how in her time she founded a community of sisters that both initiated perpetual adoration and welcomed poor girls into their house to help them in their formation. In all of this we can see the love of Jesus and Mary evidenced in the adoration of Christ’s eucharistic body and in the education of the poorest members of his body. The precariousness of life and the lack of people able to work in education were not an impediment to the Good Mother responding with audacity to the pastoral urgencies of her time.
May the Good Mother intercede for all of us before the Lord. And like her, may we be sensitive to the pain of the wounds of our world, and with confidence in God’s providential love work to heal the wounds with a love that is tender, patient and close.
