The CEA Commission of Initial Formation (IF) met in Madrid, in the Provincial House. The meeting began on the morning of Friday, 23rd November and ended at noon on Sunday 26th. Jerzy Grzanka, from the Polish Province was the coordinator of the Commission and chaired the meeting. Also present were the coordinators of Spain, Jeremías Cuesta; Andalucia, Julio García; France, Alphonse Fraboulet; Ireland-England, Derek Laverty as well as a representative of the Formation Commission of the Province of Africa, Román Elizalde, who was in Madrid for some medical tests. Felipe F. Lazcano of the General Government also took part. Sr. Nuria Arias, of the Sisters’ Commission joined us for the session on Sunday morning.
The meeting began with a presentation by each province of their own reality regarding IF. Later time was spent elaborating some “common criteria for admission of candidates to the novitiate who herald from other Provinces”. In this way possible candidates from Provinces where there is no novitiate can come assured of one of the key stages of IF.
The second theme dealt with was some “criteria for welcoming adult vocations” in the process of Initial Formation. This is a reality that is present among us.
Another important theme that we reflected on was that of a “common stage of IF for Europe”, whereby we were able to elaborate a proposal to offer to the Provinces.
Finally there was a reflection on the possibility of organising a meeting of professed during 2008 that could be organised with the sisters. Other themes were also considered in the light of the “Action Plan” of the General Commission of IF.
On Saturday the Eucharist was celebrated in memory of the feast of the Good Mother where brothers and sisters came together in the college of El Paraiso. On Sunday the Eucharist was celebrated in the parish of San Victor, which is also a formation house for the professed of Spain and Andalucia.
