International Symposium on Health and Peace (Brazil)

From September 1st to 4th, 2025, the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC Minas), at the Coração Eucarístico campus in Belo Horizonte (MG), will host the International Symposium on Health and Peace, an event celebrating 100 years since the arrival of Blessed Father Eustáquio in Brazil. The initiative will bring together specialists, scholars, religious leaders, and devotees for a broad interdisciplinary reflection on faith, health, and peace.

The Symposium is organized by the Cause for the Canonization of Blessed Father Eustáquio, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts, the Sanctuary of Health and Peace, the REPLUDI research group – Religion, Pluralism, and Dialogue, the Theology Program, and the Department of Biological Sciences at PUC Minas.

Inspired by the Blessed’s motto – “Health for your bodies, and peace for your souls” – the event will be structured around three main thematic axes: the memory of Blessed Father Eustáquio, health, and peace, fostering dialogue between spirituality, science, and social commitment in today's world.

Thematic Program

Each day of the symposium will explore a specific theme:

  • Tuesday, September 2nd: The life, spirituality, and legacy of Blessed Father Eustáquio, focusing on his historical and religious path.
  • Wednesday, September 3rd: The relationship between health and spirituality, including topics such as integrative medicine, care, and suffering.
  • Thursday, September 4th: Interreligious dialogue on the theme of peace and its role in contemporary societies.
