David de la Torre sscc, auxiliary bishop of Quito and secretary general of the Episcopal Conference, in statements to Teleamazonas said that it is a step forward that the National Government and the indigenous sector have been in dialogue at a table for 91 days, "it is a sign of confidence and responsibility".
"We have three levels of agreements present at the tables created for dialogue: those that depend on the Executive, tables that represent territories and participants representing the laws that must pass through the Assembly," said Monsignor de la Torre.
According to the bishop, some 180 to 300 agreements will be reached at the dialogue roundtables. There will be a follow-up roundtable with the participation of two representatives of the three social organisations and four national government authorities. "We will not participate, because it is time for the State to resume its function and mission", said the Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference of Ecuador.
