From October 6th, Thursday, a group of 25 parishioners of our SSCC parishes in Japan have been visiting the Philippines, accompanied by Kenji Honma, provincial superior, and Franciscus Waluyo, provincial councilor. The initiative of this “pilgrimage to the Philippines” intends to establish communication and strengthen ties between the SSCC families of both countries, given that Japan and the Philippines are one religious province in the Congregation.
On October 7th, Friday, there was a lively encounter between the Japanese pilgrims and brothers and sisters who live and have their mission in the Philippines. This moment began with the celebration of the Eucharist in Japanese, which was chaired by Andrew Healy (84), from USA, who lived 40 years in Japan and now lives in the Philippines. The celebration was followed by cultural presentations prepared by brothers, sisters and pilgrims. A noon meal was shared, in a typical Asian atmosphere.
Japanese parishioners will visit the parish of Bagbag on Saturday 8, and the parish of Bagong Silang, on Sunday 9. On Monday 10, they will make a cultural visit near Manila. October 11, Tuesday, will be the last day in the Philippines before their return to Japan.
