Jesus, the King of Love

To mark the occasion of the first centenary of the consecration of Spain to the Heart of Jesus, the BAC (Library of Christian Authors) has just published "Jesus, King of Love", by Father Mateo Crawley-Boevey sscc.  It is the first edition (corrected and enlarged) in the BAC, and the third in the history of the work, prepared by the priest Pablo Cervera Barranco and promoted by the Carmelite Mothers of Cerro de los Ángeles.

In the prologue to this beautiful and careful edition, José Rico Pavés, Auxiliary Bishop of Getafe, (in whose diocese is located the Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Cerro de Los Angeles) highlights how: "Father Mateo Crawley-Boevey, SS.CC. is inseparably associated with the apostolate of devotion and worship of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Fr. Mateo arrived in Spain in 1916.  In Madrid he launched the idea of ??erecting a national monument in honor of the Heart of Jesus.  The idea 'was received with vibrant enthusiasm'.  Finally, on 30th May, 1919, in Cerro de los Angeles, the monument was blessed and Spain was subsequently consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, by way of a solemn proclamation by King Alfonso XIII before the Blessed Sacrament.

It is not surprising that Fr. Mateo was entrusted with the task of preaching the solemn Triduum for preparation for the enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Cerro de los Angeles.  The preaching of the triduum, together with numerous talks and lessons, that always centred on the mystery of the Heart of Jesus, have been added to this edition of the work ‘Jesus, King of love’.
