Latin American Meeting of the Secular Branch (Brs & Srs)

This meeting of the ELARS (Encuentro Latino Americano de la Rama Secular) was held in Santiago, Chile, from March 24 to 26. All participants lived at the same time the Paschal Triduum and the encounter. There were participants from the sectors of Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia and Ecuador. In total were 40, plus a sscc brother and two sscc sisters. Camille Sapu, of the General Government, participated in the meeting on behalf of Spiritual Animation Team.

The theme was: "Together we are more" and “Rise, take up your mat, and walk."

The "national" coordinator of Chile, Luz Vidal, said that Latin America is already used to this kind of meetings. This helps to nourish the bonds of brotherhood between all sectors of the Secular Branch in Latin America. It also allows to have behind the names a particular face. She also explained that the choice of this time, the Triduum, is not only due to vacations in Latin America but for the love God shows us in this period.

The various topics covered were:
- Holy Thursday: community and mission.
- Friday: Repair, led by Alex Vigueras (Provincial of Chile).
- Holy Saturday: conclusion by each Sector and preparation of the international meeting in 2017.

All participants returned happy to their respective Sectors. They are ready and enthusiastic for the 2017 international meeting in El Escorial (Spain). The fruits of this meeting will be the material to be treated during the next ELARS in 2019 in Paraguay.
