The Human Rights Commission of the State of Hidalgo (México), after an analysis among several candidates, unanimously decided to award the medal of merit in the promotion and defense of human rights to house migrant " The Samaritan ", run by the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts in Mexico. The event was held on December 10, 2013, as this day is the International Day of Human Rights.
This news took the sisters by surprise. It happened that the lady in charge of human rights in the region went to visit the house a month before, because we had a problem of damage at night when we the house was with no vigilance; apparently had to do with local crime. There she met the house, saw how the migrants are taken care; she was amazed and without saying anything proposed the project as a candidate for the medal.
Somehow this encourages us to continue every day, fondly embracing migrants passing through the house, to continue forming us in the promotion and defense of Human Rights, working in networks and continue to opt for life, there where life calls, as we believe that God wants decent life for all people, especially to the most violated as are our migrant brothers and sisters.
