Meeting of SS.CC. Formators from Latin America

A Meeting of the SS.CC. Formators in Latin America was held in Lima (Peru) from 20 - 24 May.  Seventeen formators involved in the different stages of formation attended, coming from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru.  The coordinators of the meeting were brothers Enrique Ramírez, Sandro Mancilla and Paulino Colque.  At the meeting the various topics discussed included the use of psychology in Initial Formation, the pastoral itinerary during formation, admission to the interprovincial novitiate, the characteristics of the Fourth Stage and preparation for perpetual vows.  Derek Laverty, Vicar General was also present at the meeting.  This meeting is held every three years with the aim of developing common criteria for the processes of the initial formation of the Congregation in Latin America.

At the last day of the CIAL Meeting for Initial Formation, Fr. Alberto Toutin, Superior General, shared the General Government's view on formation.  He encouraged the dialogue to continue in recognition of the value of internationality and in pursuit of quality formation.  He also recalled the value of Initial formation as the means to create a renewal of religious life in dialogue with our world.  Finally in the closing Eucharist he encouraged us to keep loving, to put love at the centre of our work in creating fraternal communities that can accompany our young brothers, just as Jesus loved us.
