Meeting of the Commission coordinating the preparations for the beatification of the Martyrs of 1871 (France)

On 27 September 2022, the first meeting of the Commission coordinating the preparations for the beatification of the Martyrs of 1871 took place at the Diocesan House in Paris. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Archdiocese of Paris, namely Mons. Jean-Marie Dubois Chancellor of the Curia, responsible for the promotion of the Causes of Saints in the Archdiocese, Jean-Pierre Cartier - Master of Ceremonies, Ludovica Giobbe - Delegate for Communications and Iona Stefani - Assistant in the Office for the Promotion of the Causes of Saints in the Archdiocese.

 

Representing the Institute of the Religious of St. Vincent de Paul were: Fr. Gilles Morin, the Superior of the French Province, who chaired the meeting, and Br. Patrick Gotillot, the General Econome of the Congregation. Fr. Yvon Sabourin, General Postulator of the RSV, was unable to attend for health reasons. Our Congregation was represented by Fr. Christian Flottes, Provincial of France; Fr. Bernard Couronne, Vice-Postulator of the Cause for the Beatification of the Martyrs of Picpus; Fr. Andrzej Lukawski, General Postulator and Fr. Remi Liando as Andrzej's translator.

During the meeting, various aspects of the preparations for the beatification were discussed, such as liturgy, logistics, economic matters and contacts with the media. Attention was paid to issues related to the safety of participants and some sensitive topics. The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 29 November 2022.
