Meeting of the SSCC General Governments (Rome)

On Tuesday, December 9, at the General House on Via Aurelia, the meeting of both General Governments of the Congregation took place. After a time of prayer, various topics were shared.

First, each member of the governments shared how they had experienced the time leading up to the meeting (learnings, joys, difficulties, etc.). Then, the central theme of our meeting was addressed: the Secular Branch. Concerns and reactions were expressed, and there was time for dialogue about how to encourage the secular branch and the accompanying brothers and sisters, within the framework of synodality and interdependence. For example, some questions asked by lay people were discussed, such as having their own legal personality, competent authority, the lay vocation in the synodal context, making the statutes known, etc. There is a desire to promote formation for both lay people and religious in this area. The role of the Spiritual Animation Team (SAT), recently established, is appreciated for its contribution to animating the secular branch as an opportunity for new leadership. It is important to ask: What does the charism contribute to, or how does it enrich, the mission of the Church in religious men and women and in lay people?

In July, there will be a Poitiers Session. SSCC brothers preparing for perpetual vows and young brothers will participate. The participating sisters will be close to their perpetual vows. Two commissions are working: logistics and formation.

The next meeting of the two General Governments will take place from June 17 to 20, focusing on Dilexi te of Pope Leo XIV from the perspective of the option for young people, our religious life, and synodality–interdependence. Location: Torricella in Sabina.
