Memorial Mass of the 20th Century Spanish Martyrs (Brs)

It was still dawn on November 6 when all the Sacred Hearts sisters and brothers, including the new superiors who are in Rome for the workshop, come together in the Generalate at Via Rivarone 85 to celebrate the first Memorial Mass of the Martyrs, remembering especially our Spanish brothers Teófilo, Isidro, Gonzalo, Eladio and Mario. The celebration was presided by Jean-Blaise Mwanda, the new provincial of Africa.
After communion the Superior General, Javier Álvarez-Ossorio, offered a thanksgiving prayer in front of the images and relics of these SSCC martyrs installed in the community’s Adoration Chapel. The celebration was closed with a special blessing and the singing of Salve Regina.
This morning the whole family of sacred Hearts in Rome have breakfast together, after which some brothers went to attend the Audience with our Pope Francis at Saint Peter’s Square.
