Some 30 volunteers linked to the Congregation in Spain, hailing from Jerez, San Fernando, Cadiz and Malaga, recently set aside their daily routine to load a large container in San Fernando with various items for education and training, such as blackboards, office chairs, paper, pens and a long list of school supplies. Included with the educational items were health/medical objects and also bicycles that the volunteers themselves had restored.
For more than 20 years, a group of volunteers connected with the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts, and especially with Father Adolfo Sastre, well known in this area, have been working all year round to prepare, arrange and pack all the materials that are to be sent to different places to support training and above all to transmit the message: "we are with you" or, as they say in Mozambique: "We are together".
This religious has been working as a mission procurator for more than 50 years. He is the "bridge" between the people who collaborate from Iberia, with D. R. Congo and Mozambique, although later, the aid has been extended to India and the Philippines.
The container will make its way to Kinshasa, the capital of the D. R. Congo, and will help to furnish a school that has been built and which is already providing education to many children.
The Mayoress of San Fernando, Patricia Cavada, came to spend some time with the volunteers loading the container.
