Moloka'i reaffirms its “Friendly Island” spirit

Fr. Bill Gural sscc, temporarily served at St. Damien Parish, Kaunakakai, while Fr. Pat Fanning sscc is on vacation. He celebrated Mass at Our Lady of Seven Sorrows and St. Vincent Ferrer, both linked to St. Damien.

During his stay, he met with Sisters Irene Barboza and Catherine Francis Miller, experienced acts of generosity such as an unexpected meal paid for by a Mormon neighbor, and took part in community gatherings like the Breakfast Club, the kupuna (elders) meeting, and the reopening of the dental clinic.

“It is a privilege to live next to St. Joseph Chapel and see how it remains a place of prayer and encounter,” said Fr. Gural.
