New Episcopal Vicar for Consecrated Life (Iberica)

On 31 July, José Cobo Cano, Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, appointed Aurelio Cayón Díaz sscc, of the Iberian Province, Episcopal Vicar for Consecrated Life in the Archdiocese of Madrid.

When the appointment was made public, Aurelio said: ‘I am grateful for the confidence of D. José Cobo, Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, and I ask for the Lord's help to carry out to the best of my ability this task that has been entrusted to me. My desire is to serve consecrated life and the Church of Madrid with total dedication, contributing to the communion and mission to which Jesus calls us and sends us. Elías Royón SJ for his fruitful service to communion during these years and I would like to do so by continuing in the same line that he has followed. In our time, the Church makes a clear call to synodality to all of us. I hope that my work as Vicar for Consecrated Life in Madrid will humbly help consecrated, lay and ordained ministers to walk together following the Lord and being witnesses of his love’.
