On the afternoon of Sunday, October 29, a simple liturgy was celebrated in the new Catholic Cemetery of the Holy Trinity in Santiago. A new mausoleum was blessed where now the remains of the brothers of the Congregation rest.
Since October 4, the mortal remains of more than sixty brothers of the Congregation rest in that place. Forty-three sets of remains were containable in ossuaries and the bodies of eighteen recently deceased brothers were placed in new coffins. The process of exhumation and transfer was a very significant experience, at times awesome and passionate, because in those mortal remains -already unrecognizable- were the bodies of very dear brothers of great value for the Chilean province. In three niches, the relics of brothers, some dating from 1864, were dedicatedly placed.
A task like the exhumation of the remains of our brothers shakes us up to live with quality, dedication, with a consciousness of our being creatures, and, therefore, with humility in face of so much arrogance and pique that controls our way of being and acting.
Pray for these ss.cc. who on the day they made profession in the Congregation declared where “we wish to live and die.” They did so.
